willapa harbor helping handsTHE APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for assistance are available at several locations or may be obtained by calling a WHHH member. Applications may be filled out by the patient, a family member, friend, neighbor, or be submitted anonymously. The board of WHHH meets the second Thursday of each month and the regular meeting of WHHH is held on the third Thursday of each month. Board members will read the applications at the meetings, and a decision will be made promptly.

QUALIFYING FOR ASSISTANCE
A patient must have resided in the area for at least three months prior to applying for assistance form WHHH, and must live within the designated boundaries. (Boundaries are listed below.) Patients are required to disclose the name of their physician and may be asked to obtain a letter from him/her stating that the applicant medically qualifies for assistance from WHHH. Applicant must be cancer patients who are currently receiving treatment or recovering from their disease or treatment or are unable to work for reasons due to their cancer diagnosis.

BOUNDARIES
Cancer patients must live within the following boundaries to qualify for assistance from Willapa Harbor Helping Hands:

  • Highway 101 — Grays Harbor/Pacific County line
  • Highway 6 — Lewis/Pacific County line
  • Highway 101 (South)  — Johnson’s Landing (junction in road turning right to Long Beach and left to Longview/Astoria)
  • Highway 105 to Westport — North River Beach

CONFIDENTIALITY
Willapa Harbor Helping Hands members must keep names and information of those receiving assistance confidential. If a board member fails to maintain confidentiality, he/she may be excused from the board.
